Dancing through the Minefields: Religious Exemptions, LGBTQ Issues, & Jesuit Higher Education

Georgetown Law professor Nan Hunter (L’75) moderates this panel which will examine the difficult, complex, and creative terrain at the intersections of LGBTQ issues and the concept of “religious exemptions,” particularly as it is played out in Jesuit higher education. Distinguished experts in the fields of law and religion will discuss how institutions grapple with both changing demographics, and shifting cultural, social, and moral mores, and explore how we can remain truthful and relevant to our past for a contemporary world. Panelists include Rosemary Kilkenny (L’87, Parent’06), Vice President of Diversity & Equity at Georgetown; Chester Gillis (Parent’08), Dean of the College and Professor of Theology; and Chai Feldblum, Commissioner, EEOC, and former Georgetown Law Professor. This event is co-sponsored by LGBTQ Resource Center & Georgetown University Law Center.
