Lavender Graduation 2017
Thursday, April 27, 2017
Great Room, Healey Family Student Center
Ceremony: 5:15pm – 7:00pm
Reception: 7:00pm – 9:00pm
Lavender Graduation is a special ceremony for LGBTQ and Ally undergraduate and graduate students to acknowledge their achievements, contributions, and unique experiences at Georgetown University. This is an opportunity to celebrate the graduating students and bring the community together, along with our distinguished guests, to share in our history and progress.
As part of pre-registration, please submit your name and/or names of all others who you would like to be a part of the ceremony with you here. Invite those who have been a part of your journey here on campus. This does not mandate anyone’s participation nor sign them up officially. Deadline for pre-registration is January 27th.
As part of Lavender Graduation, we take a moment to recognize the accomplishments and contributions of the graduating students during their time on campus. We welcome any enrolled student, faculty, or staff member to nominate a graduating student, faculty, or staff member for one of our six awards. Learn more about the awards here and make nominations here by March 20th.
Senior Speaker Application
Each year Lavender Graduation invites an undergraduate senior to share reflections on their experience of their time at Georgetown. We ask that the student speaker meet the following eligibility criteria:
- is a current undergraduate student graduating in the Class of 2017
- identifies as LGBTQ
- can speak to both the personal and communal journey of the four years at Georgetown for approximately 3-5 minutes.
Students need not have been involved directly with the LGBTQ Resource Center or GU PRIDE to be considered for selection. If you have any questions about the senior speech at Lavender Graduation or the selection process, please do not hesitate to contact Julian Haas at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please submit your application by Friday, March 31st.
