Student Health Center
The Student Health Center hopes to support the LGBTQIA+ community with its services. Please see their FAQ page on LGBTQIA+ services at this link. Counseling & Psychiatric Services (CAPS)
The Counseling and Psychiatric Service (CAPS) is located in Darnall Hall and serves as the university’s primary mental health agency for its students and campus community. CAPS can be contacted through their website or by dialing (202) 687.6985. CAPS offers free evaluations, has $10 psychotherapy and $15 psychiatry sessions, can usually see students within a week of the time they call, and give immediate attention to emergency situations.
CAPS is also available after hours for emergency consults at (202) 444.7243. You will be prompted to give your name and phone number. In most cases, a CAPS clinician will call you back within 5-10 minutes.
Health Education Services (HES)
Health Education Services (HES) is located in Poulton Hall – Suite 101. The office is comprised of health professionals who are available to help students deal with a range of health issues, including pregnancy, alcohol and drug use and abuse, adult children of alcoholics, eating disorders, sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, stress management, and general health promotion. Health Education Services can be contacted online or by dialing (202) 687.8949.
