Events Schedule

5-6pm, Virtual

While various identities in the queer umbrella hold different levels of stigma and weight, it’s important to identify them clearly, share what we know, and consider how to create a safe space for all identities on campus.

7-9pm, Arrupe Multipurpose Room

Join Queer Space to decompress with an evening of painting t-shirts. Painting supplies and shirts (size S-XXXL) will be provided, as well as snacks from Trader Joe’s. Queer space centers and celebrates Georgetown’s trans and queer community, but ALL ARE WELCOME! 

1-4pm, Arrupe Multipurpose Room

Join GU Gaming and Prof. Amanda Phillips for an arcade full of pride! Have fun and learn about the various ways that queerness intersects with gaming, from games that explore identity and relationships to games that turn the world on its head with “queer” mechanics. Drop in and out or stay for the whole time – we’ll have free pizza, community, and plenty of games to try!

7-8:30pm, Bulldog Alley, Leavey Center

Healthy sexuality at Georgetown and beyond. You stay anonymous. National experts answer all your questions. Please contact disabilityculture@georgetown.edu for accessibility requests.

Our bi-weekly Thursday Tea is the perfect opportunity to relax, sip a cozy drink, and build meaningful connections with people who share your experiences. Whether you’re new to the community or a familiar face, everyone is invited!

5-7pm, McShain Small Lounge

Having dyed hair is a popular way for Queer folx to express identity, and we’ll be providing hair coloring services for people to enjoy a fun/colorful hair day and be visible during coming out day festivities without the commitment (or hair damage) of permanent/semi-permanent hair dyes. We’ll be providing a variety of temporary (1-day or 1-wash) hair dye options for hair of all textures (while supplies last)!

3-3:50pm, Healy Foyer

Join Campus Ministry’s chaplains and staff for our community gathering! Enjoy some delicious snacks, great company, and meaningful conversation. Immediately following, we invite you to our Interfaith Prayer for Peace and Justice from 3:50 to 4 p.m. in Dahlgren Quad. The event is wheelchair accessible via Dahlgren Quad or Maguire Hall. We look forward to seeing you there!

6-7pm, OSEI

Join the Georgetown University Lecture Fund for a conversation with Dr. Jules Gill-Peterson. An acclaimed scholar, Dr. Gill-Peterson has won the Lambda Literary Award for Transgender Nonfiction, served as a Radcliffe Fellow at Harvard University, and has published the books Histories of the Transgender Child and A Short History of Trans Misogyny. Her lecture will be based on her work for her upcoming book, titled Transgender Liberalism

11am-1pm, ICC Red Square

First celebrated in 1994, LGBTQ+ History Month originated in the United States and was founded by Missouri high school history teacher Rodney Wilson. October was chosen as the month for celebration since October 11 is observed as National Coming Out Day. The month also commemorates the first National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights in 1979. This year Georgetown University will be honoring National Coming Out Day on October 16th. Join us for community, education, and giveaways in Red Square.

A collaboration between Campus Ministry and the LGBTQ Resource Center, this retreat seeks to build an intentional community of support for queer undergraduate students, grounded in our reflective traditions and practices.

5:30-7:30pm, Makom (Leavey Center)

Join Jewish Life and LJewBTQ for a Shabbat service and dinner filled with Pride! We’ll be celebrating queer Jewish voices throughout the service. Kosher dinner with rainbow challah to follow. All are welcome. 

8pm, Lohrfink Auditorium

This production uses a live shadow cast that acts out the cult classic film The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Audience members are encouraged to participate by dressing up, shouting out call backs, and celebrating the campy, queer chaos that is Rocky Horror. Whether you’re a seasoned fan or a Rocky Horror virgin, this show will be an unforgettable experience that will put you in a Time Warp!
